High above them, American warplanes rained hell, for no
reason. Fear rose in her throat and she wanted to vomit. She looked around
frantically, searching for shelter, anything, anywhere, so long as there was
something over her head. She ran, not knowing where.
Then it was suddenly dark, as though the sun had died. She
stopped and looked around. She was in a building, someone's home. She knew she
was trying to find something but she didn't know what. Then she saw her. Laying
just a few feet away was a dead woman. She had been pregnant. Her stomach
ripped open as though someone had carelessly attempted to remove her unborn
child. The baby lay a few feet away, the umbilical cord still attached.
